On the hottest day of the year so far, Rob was invited to present to The Aleto Foundation’s Summer Leadership Programme, a charity that works with tomorrow’s leaders and hosts a yearly programme to share success.

The Aleto Foundation

The Aleto Foundation was created to provide significant lifetime opportunities for young people with high potential. Their focus is on identifying and developing the next generation of leaders from communities who have historically found it challenging to access jobs due to their backgrounds.

The Leadership Programme

Over the course of the week the delegates worked with mentors (including our own JI consultant; Cedi Frederick!), attended talks by guests including Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, and took part in workshops all designed to equip them to be the next generation of leaders.

Rob took a sample from our own leadership academy to deliver to the group, with a focus on how attitudes and emotions drive behaviour. For anyone who has ever attended one of our leadership academies, they will know what was coming when he asked the room “Who’s confident?!” but for those not in the know, then let’s just say it involved an unwitting volunteer, a microphone and Freddie Mercury!

Whilst karaoke may not seem the obvious way to demonstrate leadership qualities, Rob took the group through his own “Performance Spiral” and how, as a leader, every day something will happen that will take you out of your comfort zone.

Despite the hot weather the event was inspiring and full of passion and energy. The delegates take away connections for life, mentors and buddies to support them on their journey and we hope to be back next year. We will be keeping a close eye on the successes of the delegates!
